all it takes is one secret whisper from evan and carolina is on the floor laughing. i’ll never know the dudes secret, but it’s beautiful, funny, and totally inspiring… and they’ve been married for almost three years!

(photographer’s tip: shoot on your cameras ‘cloudy wb’ setting in conjunction with backlight for added warmth and amazing skin tones.)

i’ve come to the conclusion that random personal posts are fun and i’ll be sure to do it more often. this is a blog after all, all business and no pleasure isn’t very cool.

this past tuesday I had the pleasure of shooting an awesome family in NYC. we met up at grimaldi’s pizza a few blocks away from the Brooklyn bridge.

ps- tom carried an entire bag of extra clothing (easily weighing 40 pounds) all across nyc, over the brooklyn bridge, and even through the labyrinth of new york’s subway system. hero status.

Fun. Laughter. Good times. Every other detail is useless. Oh wait – just keep your feet off Jason’s wall!

I think the images speak the words I’m trying to find.

After everyone was ready, we headed out to meet up with 40 other photographers waiting in the streets of NYC and started to break into groups. Ftw!

The two shots above are my favorite from the day! Jess, you killed it! You’ve got such a great look!

I found a Scandinavian girl who came up to me asking what we were up too. I asked if she wanted a photo and of course she said yes! The light was golden and awesome.

Oh and I can’t forget Tim rocking out to the ninja-starlight of doom.

Big thanks to Jason, Rob, Tim, the models, and everyone else who came out! I met a lot of cool people, so stay in touch!

the digital wedding forum has gotten behind a group of professional photographers to helping us get together and form a solid team of straight up rockstar wedding and portrait photogs! headed up by rob nicholson, the photog shootout aims to get professional creatives off their couches for a good time, some learning, and the occasional joke or two. here’s a video that darrell auburt compiled, i think i’m in the video somewhere, so check it out!

shooting other photographers is hard work. as a photographer or any sort of creative professional knows, we see the world differently then most people. you can teach anyone the basics of photography, but the inherent difficulty lies in the ability to see something unique and translate it creatively and conceptually to your clients.

it’s the reason clients hire you, they trust that personal creative judgment. angie, a wedding and portrait photographer, had followed some of my work and decided she wanted to see my creative vision come alive in her hometown of boston. an 8 hour drive later, I had arrived! I loved the drive, but I think i’ll be flying in from now on.

yeah, that happened.

ps- during my stay in boston, i somehow ended up in a rockstar-branded hummer filled with 10 other people handing out free rockstar to all of boston. seriously! you can’t even plan that!

Late last year, I had the privilege of photographing Sarah, a remarkable young lady. We chose a few locations here in toms river to shoot, but eventually found our way to the monmouth county battlefield. i’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone unsure of a possible lifestyle or eShoot location, as I’d love to go back.
