When Jen initially shared her plans with me of eloping on a rooftop in Brooklyn (at sunrise), my first thought was how perfect everything sounded. My second thought occurred the night before their elopement when I had set my alarm for a 4:30am call time – my opinion on the “sunrise” part quickly starting to change. My sleep deprivation was totally worth it when I first met Jen and Phung. They’re fantastic, hilarious, and warm hearted people. Together we took in the best Brooklyn has to offer before anyone else was seemingly awake: I watched them exchange vows on a private rooftop as the sun rose with only their dog, myself, and the officiant as witnesses. We strolled over a mostly empty Brooklyn Bridge together and we explored Dumbo with only a few tourists around. It was the perfect way to spend a few hours that I’d normally spend sleeping.
It’s also worth noting that there are few things in this world that compliment one another as well as Brooklyn and J. Crew.
